Join the Toronto Zoo on Saturday, September 19 and celebrate World Rhino Day. Learn about rhinos and their habitats and their role in their environments and take in a special Keeper Talk at 12:00pm and 2:00pm (Indian Rhino) and 1:00pm and 4:00pm (White Rhino).
Czech Republic
Zoo Dvur Kralove will celebrate World Rhino Day on Saturday, September 26. Actor Josef Dvorak will be guest of honor. Visitors may wish a safe journey to Eliska, the female black rhinoceros , which in the coming months will move to Mkomazi National Park in Tanzania. Guests will learn more about the Mkomazi reserve as well as black rhinos.
Estonia
Tallinn Zoo in Estonia will a celebrate a rhino weekend in honor of World Rhino Day from September 18 – 20. Festivities will begin with the Matsalu Nature Film Festival, and a film about about elephants and rhinos. On Saturday there will be a family morning filled with activities and rhino themed tours. Sunday will feature a special feeding for the rhinos and assorted workshops.

Zoo Dortmund will celebrate World Rhino Day on Sunday, September 27. Dortmund is home to five Southern White Rhinos. Last year heralded the birth of Abebi, the first calf born at Zoo Dortmund. Visitors will enjoy behind the scenes tours, keeper talks, and an assortment of family activities.

Indonesia
WWF Indonesia will be very busy celebrating World Rhino Day! Events kick off in Lampung, with a school visit and Rhino March at Sept 19. In Ujung Kulon, there will be a school visit, coloring activity for rhino, and journalist writing contest. In Kutai Barat, there is a school visit and discussion about Sumatran Rhino. In Kalimantan, there will be a photography contest about rhino habitat. In Balikpapan (Kalimantan) there be a discussion with WWF Stakeholder for Sumatran Rhino Conservation.
In Jakarta,there will be a discussion about wildlife photography with Alain Compost and Stephen Belcher on September 22.
WWF Indonesia will sponsor a blogger contest for World Rhino Day 2015. The theme will be “What is Home Sweet Home For The Rhino?”, a discussion about a new habitat for rhinos. The prizes for three winners in the contest will consist of field trip to Ujung Kulon, a certificate, and cash. Good luck and may everyone find a happy home for Indonesia’s precious rhinos!

iSimangaliso Wetland Park may very well have the largest World Rhino Day celebration this year. iSimangaliso Wetland Park launched a massive campaign entitled, “iSimangaliso My Rhino, Our Future”. The broad-based program specifically targets youth in the protection of rhinos and other iconic and endangered species in iSimangaliso and South Africa. The campaign began with students from over 75 schools creating rhino conservation artwork and uploading to Facebook and Instagram. My Rhino, Our Future continues the Rhino Walk, a march from school to school across the length of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park – which is over 220km from Maphelane to Kosi Bay. A highlight of the walk includes a celebratory event on World Rhino Day, 22nd September in St Lucia. The spotlight will shine on the youths’ commitment to conservation. Participants will come together and symbolically join hands as a united front in the fight against poaching and our combined efforts to tackle the greatest threat to this iconic population: human greed.

Cape Town based company Chameleon Books firmly believes that conservation starts with education for both children and adults. They are doing a crowdfunding campaign which aims to raise money to do a print run of the Rescuing Rhino book – https://www.thundafund.com/rescuingrhino
Rescuing Rhino is an illustrated story about an orphaned baby rhino, how he was cared for and eventually released back into the wild. The book deals with caring for orphaned wild animals and the plight of the rhino with fact and activity sections focused around the rhino and other orphaned animals. We have set up our rewards system in such a way that people who contribute to our campaign have the option of receiving books to donate to a charity/school of their choice.
In the build up to World Rhino Day, Judy will be holding a garden fundraiser in Cape Town on Sunday the 20th of September from 2pm to 5pm in order to raise funds for the campaign. Everyone is welcome, so bring your friends and family to enjoy some fun in the garden, learn some history of the area and have a cup of tea with the Chameleon Books team.

Project Rhino KZN announced that South African Youth Rhino Ambassadors and the World Youth Wildlife Declaration are heading to Vietnam in October. Five Youth Rhino Ambassadors have been selected to represent South Africa and carry an important appeal to Vietnamese citizens and Asian government leaders to urgently bring an end to the rhino poaching crisis.
This is the first time South African youth have been invited to visit Vietnam – internationally recognized as a key consumer country and hub for the sale of rhino horn – and participate in a government-led demand reduction campaign. They will be guests of Operation Game Change, a joint Vietnam/US government initiative aimed at ending wildlife crime in Vietnam, especially rhino horn trafficking.

The Swazi Community can help take a stand to save the rhino by getting involved with the Nail it for Rhinos Campaign. All they have to do is get creative with their nails from the 1st of September 2015. World Rhino Day is on Tuesday the 22nd September and the eventual winner will be announced on Social Media on the 22nd. They can color them, Shape them or Fake them; then take selfies (with the highlight of the picture being their nail craft) and share them on our official Big Game Parks instagram, facebook and twitter handles with the caption.

Edinburgh Zoo will celebrate World Rhino Day on Saturday, September 19. The special day will include lectures, Keeper talks and storytelling with Alette Willis. Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm
Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm celebrates World Rhino Day on Saturday, September 19. It will be a special day learning about the rhinos and raising awareness about the plight of rhinos in the wild. Noah’s Ark will raise money for the UK based charity ‘Helping Rhinos’ through selling rhino cookies, mud cakes and other baked goods. There will be a raffle to win a rhino adoption for a year.
One of the ways in which guests will learn about the plight of the rhinos is by counting the amount of rhino images displayed to represent how many rhino have been poached this year.
The Giraffe talk at 2pm will be extended to include a special talk about the rhinos also. The rhinos will also be receiving a special enrichment treat so look out for that in their outside field.
Chessington World Adventures Resort
Chessington World Adventures Resort is celebrating World Rhino day over the weekend of September 19 & 20. Special talks in the Wanyama Hut in Wanyama Village will be held at at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. San Diego Zoo Safari Park
San Diego Zoo Safari Park has a whole crash of activities planned for World Rhino Day on Tuesday, September 22. Guests will enjoy a special day of rhino themed enrichment activities and meet the park’s rhino keepers. Visitors can make their own rhino conservation pledge flags and have the chance to become Heroes for Wildlife and help San Diego Zoo Global with rhino conservation by joining the San Diego Zoo Global Wildlife Conservancy.
To honor the Safari Park’s beloved Nola, one of four northern white rhinos left in the world, a sky art project will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the African Plains Overlook with over 165 volunteers holding art cards that will reveal a graphic of Nola. The first 300 guests entering the Safari Park will receive #rally4rhino wristbands. Come support rhinos!

Global Conservation Corps have partnered with the video storytelling specialists at Friendly Human to create the “Rhino Man” film to highlight the critical role of their sacrifices, with the trailer being released on World Rhino Day.
As one of the field rangers explains in the video, “You must have the guts in order to stand in front of the bullet, because remember there will be a poacher and there will be a rhino, and you are the bullet proof for the rhino.”
“Their story will move you to help and it will leave you believing that there is hope in spite of tragedy. VIETNAM
CHANGE, a Vietnamese NGO who partners with WildAid, has organized a creative event: “Funeral for rhinos: Back to dust and sand“. The event will include a funeral ceremony, where information and inspiration about the rhino’s status and why we have to protect them will be shared. Participants will go to public places for a march along the streets, carrying photos and banners calling people to stop using rhino horns, before getting to the “graveyard” where a symbolic burying will be held.

Imire Rhino & Wildlife Conservation will celebrate World Rhino Day on Friday, September 25. Imire will once again celebrate World Rhino Day with the Hwedza community. These people are crucially assisting with the responsibility of the security of the wildlife in this part of the world, in particular the endangered rhino. League soccer, netball and touch rugby championship finals draw the crowds and are always an exciting “grand finale” to the day. World Rhino Day has become an important highlight of the year for everyone, and this year they hope to draw an even bigger crowd. It is an opportunity to thank our community for their support and to celebrate that all here in Hwedza are guardians to a population of 7 black and white rhino.
This year the funding will be going towards soccer/netball kit and balls for the 28 rural soccer /netball league teams as well as the entertainment for World Rhino Day.

Join Save the Rhino and help celebrate this year’s World Rhino Day (WRD) by getting involved with our ‘Nail it for Rhinos’ campaign to raise awareness of the threats facing the world’s five rhino species.
